Position Overview:
We are looking for a Cloud Systems Engineer with proven managed services experience to design, operate, and support cloud infrastructure and platform services for multiple clients. The role requires strong technical skills across Microsoft Azure and cloud operations, excellent incident and change management experience in an MSP environment, and active certifications (see required certifications below). The successful candidate will deliver reliable, secure, and scalable cloud solutions while working closely with service delivery, security, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities:

Operate and maintain multi-tenant cloud environments (primarily Microsoft Azure) for MSP customers, ensuring high availability, performance, and cost control.

Provision and configure cloud infrastructure and platform services using Infrastructure as Code (ARM/Bicep/Terraform) and automated deployment pipelines.

Design and implement networking, compute, storage, identity, and security controls in Azure, following best practices for governance, segmentation, and least privilege.

Manage identity and access using Azure AD, Conditional Access, Privileged Identity Management (PIM), and hybrid identity solutions.

Implement monitoring, alerting, and observability using tools such as Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and third-party platforms; respond to incidents and lead root cause analysis.

Deliver day-to-day managed services tasks including patch management, backup/recovery validation, cost optimization, and capacity planning.

Develop and maintain runbooks, operational runbooks, runbook automation (Azure Automation, Logic Apps, scripts), and client-facing documentation.

Participate in client onboarding, migrations, and cloud transformation projects; collaborate with architects and engineers to create implementation and cutover plans.

Drive continuous improvement across monitoring, automation, security posture, and service delivery processes; contribute to the MSP service catalog and standard operating procedures.

Provide technical mentoring to junior engineers, assist with escalations, and support service reviews and client communications.
Qualifications:
1. Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
2. Professional Experience
Minimum 4 years of professional experience operating cloud infrastructure with at least 2 years in an MSP or managed services environment supporting multiple client tenants. Demonstrated experience with production support, incident response, and managed service SLAs.
3. Certifications (Required)

Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104) OR Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Associate (AZ-305) OR equivalent Azure operational certification

Required: Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (AZ-900) is a plus but not a substitute for one of the above if you have equivalent experience

Recommended: Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate (AZ-500) and/or Microsoft Certified: DevOps Engineer Expert (AZ-400)
4. Core Competencies

Cloud Operations: Strong hands-on experience with Azure compute, networking (VNETs, ExpressRoute, VPN), storage, and platform services (AKS, App Services, Functions).

Automation & IaC: Proficient with ARM/Bicep, Terraform, PowerShell, and/or Azure CLI for repeatable deployments and configuration management.

Monitoring & Incident Management: Experience configuring and operating Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, alerting, runbooks, and leading on-call rotations and incident postmortems.

Security & Identity: Practical knowledge of Azure AD, Conditional Access, NSGs, Azure Firewall, role-based access control, encryption, and compliance controls.

Networking: Solid understanding of IP addressing, routing, VPN/ExpressRoute, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity patterns.

Service Delivery: Familiarity with ITIL-aligned processes (incident, change, problem, and request fulfillment) and experience meeting SLA targets in an MSP model.

Communication & Client Focus: Strong stakeholder communication skills, ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences, and experience producing clear client documentation and reports.
