Position Overview
On behalf of our client, Asiacruit is seeking a highly proficient Chinese Interpreter/Translator to support a Power Station Operations and Maintenance (O&M) project. In this role, you will provide on-site interpretation for daily communication between Chinese management personnel and local Filipino staff, government officials, community representatives, and the owner. Covering scenarios such as work meetings, technical briefings, safety inductions, site inspections, and external liaison, you will ensure accurate and smooth information exchange to keep project operations running seamlessly.
Key Responsibilities
Oral Interpretation: Provide on-site interpretation for daily communication between Chinese management personnel and local stakeholders (staff, government officials, community representatives, and the owner). Cover scenarios such as work meetings, technical briefings, safety inductions, site inspections, and external liaison.
Written Translation: Undertake Chinese-English and English-Chinese translation of project documents, reports, correspondence, contracts, rules and regulations, operation manuals, HSE materials, and government submission files. Also perform translation between English and Filipino (Tagalog) as required, ensuring professional and unambiguous wording.
Meeting and Event Interpretation: Participate in regular project meetings, special topic meetings, external coordination meetings, training sessions, and emergency drills. Provide consecutive or simultaneous interpretation as needed, and prepare bilingual meeting minutes.
Government and Community Liaison Support: Assist project management in communicating with local government agencies (e.g., DOLE) and handle community relations and owner visits, contributing to a positive external environment for the project.
Cross-Cultural Communication: Help the Chinese team understand local cultural customs, laws, regulations, and administrative procedures. Assist in resolving misunderstandings or disputes caused by language and cultural differences to improve team efficiency.
Other Administrative Support: Complete other translation and administrative tasks assigned by management as needed.
Qualifications
Nationality & Status: Philippine citizen with valid work status (if applicable).
Education: College degree or above, preferably in Translation, Linguistics, English Education, Communications, or related fields.
Work Experience: At least 2 years of full‑time interpretation/translation experience. Experience in the power, energy, or infrastructure sectors is preferred. Experience in liaising with government agencies (DOLE, DENR, DOE, LGUs, etc.), communities, or the owner is highly preferred.
Language Proficiency:
Fluent spoken Chinese, with HSK Level 4 or above (or equivalent), and skilled in both oral and written Chinese-English interpretation/translation.
Proficient in English listening, speaking, reading, and writing, able to independently produce English reports and formal correspondence.
Native or near-native Filipino (Tagalog) speaker, capable of accurate English-Tagalog and Tagalog-English translation.
Gender & Health: Male candidates are preferred (due to on-site accommodation and shift arrangements, male candidates are more convenient for unified management and living arrangements). Must be physically fit to work in a power station field environment.
Location & Availability: Residing near the project site (Bugallon) is preferred. Must have the willingness to be stationed on-site and work flexible hours as required.
Core Competencies
Excellent listening, memory, and expression skills, with quick reaction times and the ability to work under pressure.
Familiarity with Philippine administrative procedures, local regulations, and business etiquette.
Strong professional ethics and confidentiality awareness, with a high sense of responsibility and team spirit.
